Indagare [in-da-gà-ray] means ‘to investigate’ in Latin. It’s not just our name — it’s our entire approach to beauty. We question every ingredient, every supply chain, every claim. And we only put our name on products that genuinely hold up.
We make high-performance organic skincare, haircare, and body care in Australia — formulated specifically for skin and hair that are changing, because that’s when what you put on your body matters most.
Hi, I’m Cath — Owner and Chief Formulator at Indagare. When I took the helm of this brand in 2024, I wasn’t looking for a new job. I was living the problem.
Around the time I turned 40, my skin started behaving in ways I didn’t recognise. It became sensitive, reactive, and dry in patches despite still being oily in others. I was breaking out like a teenager while also developing fine lines. I looked tired even when I wasn’t. And nothing I tried — no products, no treatments, no advice — seemed to help.
My naturopath suggested I look at what was actually in my skincare. I did, and I was genuinely shocked. Products marketed as gentle were full of hormone-disrupting parabens, synthetic fragrances, and sulphates — exactly the kinds of ingredients that can trigger the sensitivity I was experiencing. The more I investigated, the harder it became to find anything I felt comfortable putting on my skin.
Then I found Indagare. A brand already doing things properly: sourcing the world’s most potent botanical oils from ethical cooperatives, formulating without fillers or toxins, testing rigorously, and making everything right here in Australia. When the opportunity came to acquire it, I didn’t hesitate. I’ve since worked hands-on with our formulators to refine and improve existing products, and to develop new ones like our Luminesq Dust cleanser. Everything starts with one question: does this actually work, and can I feel good about every ingredient in it?
Our hero ingredients aren’t chosen for marketing appeal. They’re chosen because the evidence for them is genuinely compelling.
Prickly Pear Seed Oil from Moroccan cooperatives is one of the most vitamin-E-rich oils on earth — up to 150% more than argan oil — and it absorbs without leaving a greasy residue. Argan Oil from the same Berber women’s cooperatives is a proven skin and hair conditioner with decades of clinical research behind it. Sea Buckthorn, Neroli, Pomegranate, Hibiscus — each one is in our formulas because it does something measurable, not because it sounds beautiful.
What’s not in our products: parabens, sulphates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, petroleum-derived ingredients, or cheap fillers. We are PETA-certified cruelty-free and never test on animals. Everything is made in Adelaide, South Australia.
Several of our key ingredients — including prickly pear seed oil and argan oil — come from Berber women’s cooperatives in Morocco. These aren’t marketing buzzwords. They’re long-standing relationships with producers who are paid fairly for their work and who take real pride in the quality of what they produce. The prickly pear oil we use is cold-pressed from hand-harvested fruit in remote regions — a labour-intensive process that results in oil of exceptional purity.
We are transparent about our sourcing because we believe you deserve to know where what you’re putting on your body comes from.
Everything we do is held against a simple set of non-negotiables: investigate, honest, effective, ethical, Australian, seen. These aren’t aspirational values — they’re operational ones. They shape every product decision, every sourcing choice, and every piece of copy we publish.
We make beauty for people over 40 whose skin and hair are changing — and who are underserved by an industry that still overwhelmingly designs for 25-year-olds. You’ve earned the right to expect both performance and integrity from your beauty products. That’s exactly what we’re here to deliver.
