Why you need to have Neroli in your skincare (and life!)

Posted by Tanya Joslin on

Neroli Oil to Boost Your Skin’s Radiance … and So Much More!

Why is neroli oil such a prized ingredient in skincare? Crafted from the delicate flowers of the bitter Seville orange, it is believed to have first come from trees found in southeast Asia where it spread thanks to traders to Africa and the Mediterranean.

In the olden days neroli oil helped ward off the plague. Back in Ancient Egypt, it was used much like incense. But in the 12th century in Seville, Spain, it became a more popular cultivation which eventually travelled the globe, thriving in the 1500s in St. Augustine, Florida when the Spanish explorers brought it over.

But the end of the 17th century was when it became the epitome of fashionable thanks to princess Nerola of Italy. In fact, that is where the name we know it as now comes from. She would use it to add its divine fragrance to her bath water and her clothing, creating her own signature scent which naturally, everyone wanted to copy.

Neroli oil goes further than bringing an uplifting natural aroma to your life though which is why we use it in our Illumino Youth Serum to brighten your skin tone, no matter what skin type you have (even sensitive skin too!).

Here are some reasons we love using Neroli - besides the incredible scent:

- Locks in hydration

Neroli oil is fantastic for keeping your skin’s protective barrier strong. This means it seals in that hydration deep down so you can look dewy and radiant all day, every day!

- Reenergises skin

Not only does the natural aroma perk up your senses, but it does the same within your skin. If you want skin that glows naturally, neroli oil is the way to go!

- Perfectly purifying

Some citrus-based essential oils are phototoxic, but not neroli oil. It won’t affect the sensitivity of your skin, even in the sun. With antibacterial properties, it’s fantastic for keeping skin clear, refreshed, and destressed.

- Banishes breakouts

And while we’re on the subject, bid breakouts goodbye as neroli oil’s antibacterial properties chase away the bacteria that causes acne. It also has plenty of antioxidants to calm and soothe irritated skin.

- Calms redness

Neroli is packed with regenerative qualities, including protecting collagen and elastin which help give skin its elasticity. But, neroli oil is also antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory so is useful to treat pimples and acne and reduce the redness associated with breakouts. It may even be helpful to treat rosacea and other conditions that cause redness with its antibacterial and disinfecting properties.

Neroli has great benefits for you besides helping your skin look flawless. It can help calm anxious moods as well as bring on better sleep. Use it our Illumino Youth Serum for all skin types to lift you up all day and when you get home, try our Relax & Nourish Organic Body Oil to heal your spirit with the lovely and uplifting neroli oil as a star ingredient too.

Making neroli oil at the centre of your skincare and wellness will help you exude radiance from the inside out for your most confident beauty!
