Superfoods For Skincare

Slather Superfoods On Your Face For A Radiant Complexion

It turns out that the juicing and eating of superfoods phenomenon has influenced the beauty industry, with some skincare ingredient labels, such as our award-winning Atonement Superfood Clay Masque, starting to sound like a recipe for your morning wholefoods smoothie!

From cranberries to pomegranate and green tea to pineapple, you are no longer limited to indulging in the foods that are good for you simply by eating them.

When formulated correctly, superfoods in your skincare can deliver skin firming, detoxifying and brightening results, too. Keep reading to learn how your favourite smoothie ingredients can work in your skincare and the unique benefits some of our favourite superfoods offer to our skin.

Cranberry seed contains significant amounts of natural salicylic acid, manganese, and vitamins C and K. It is a potent anti-inflammatory and anti-aging agent and plays an essential role in our Atonement Superfood Clay Masque formulation. The lovely tint of berry tones you see when the mask is activated is due in large part to the use of an expensive but incredibly pure and potent form of Cranberry Powder. This truly spectacular superfood offers fantastic benefits to all skin, particularly skin that is ageing a little faster than we'd like, because of its high amounts of resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.

 Green Tea For Skincare

Green Tea is excellent for tired skin, and you'll notice an immediate pick-me-up from the Green Tea in our luxe face mask formula. A 2003 study showed that the antioxidant EGCG, abundant in green Tea, can rejuvenate dying skin cells. By protecting and repairing your cells, this antioxidant combats the signs of ageing.

Hibiscus is one of the most powerful anti-ageing plant actives and has a magical reputation for improving skin elasticity to give a gorgeous look of vitality. With the extraordinary ability to hinder the activity of the enzyme elastase, which is responsible for breaking down our skin's precious elastin, Hibiscus actively combats the ageing process by firming and toning your skin. It also works as one of the exfoliants in our 4-1 clay mask.

Pineapple for Skincare

Pineapple is rich in Vitamins C & E, which are the two ingredients you need to brighten up your skin when it's looking a bit dull. The natural AHAs helps speed up cellular turnover and inspire an even skin tone. Pineapple Powder is known to contain the fruit enzyme 'bromelain', an effective exfoliant that sloughs off dead cells on the skin's surface. It is naturally anti-inflammatory, so using it in your skincare might help you say bye-bye to splotchy cheeks and pesky red zits. It also brings many antioxidants that help the skin be more robust against pollution damage.

Bamboo Powder is a fantastic antioxidant and helps strengthen and tighten skin and - as if that is not enough! - it also encourages the production of Collagen. Harness the power of this gentle skin exfoliant by using circular motions, massaging your precious skin as you take our Atonement Superfood Clay Masque off. You'll be amazed that something natural can resurface the skin the way it does!

Pomegranate is another superfood in Atonement that helps moisturise and promote rapid cell regeneration and rejuvenation. Pomegranate helps protect the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin) and assists with skin cell regeneration in the epidermis and dermis (inner layer), increasing circulation and healing the skin, aiding in tissue and wound healing, helping regenerate and repair. It is rich in polyphenols like anthocyains, ellagic acid, and many other plant polyphenols that encourage the skin to detox free radicals, which are a significant cause of signs of ageing.

Olive Leaf Extract has a unique ability to heal wounds and scars in the skin. Because it contains flavonoids and oleanolicsyre to stimulate cells in the connective tissue, thus improving the skin condition, it, therefore, is excellent wrinkles and fine lines.

White Willow Bark Powder has a history of use in traditional European herbalism for its beneficial properties and was used by ancient civilisations for centuries for its anti-inflammatory effects. It is naturally high in salicylic acid. This herbal powder is found in many herbal acne regimens, replacing synthetically manufactured salicylic acid. This is one ingredient you want to slather on your skin if you struggle with acne or congestion! However, it is also fantastic for helping delay the signs of ageing.

 Aloe Vera for Skincare

Some Indian and Southeast Asian cuisines use Aloe Vera for health benefits. However, Aloe Vera Powder is excellent for many skin conditions and has been used for centuries as a topical skin treatment. It's terrific for dehydrated skin and has been shown to increase the water content of the outermost layer of skin (called the stratum corneum). If hyperpigmentation is a concern, you'll love using Aloe Vera in your skincare as it boasts the compound aloesin, which could help lighten things up. There are many other benefits, but if we had to highlight the main ones here, we can't finish without noting that it helps stimulate the creation of Collagen and elastin, which prevent skin aging while also soothing and moisturising your skin.

Rhassoul Clay For Sensitive Skin - Indagare Beauty

Rhassoul Clay was used in the ancient world as a prized beauty ingredient. This purifying clay is mineral-rich and high in magnesium, silica, and potassium yet gentle, working well with most skin types. We bring over the BEST QUALITY and purest Rhassoul Clay on earth directly from Morocco for this stunning face mask. While you wouldn't normally eat rhassoul clay, we need to include it in this story because the clays bring the power of the superfoods in Atonement together, working synergistically to ensure four important things skincare steps are achieved.

French Green Clay is incredible at absorbing dirt, bacteria, and oil from deep within the pores, and bacteria from your skin and pores (if your skin goes slightly red, don't worry ... it is the green clay drawing blood to the surface; it will settle quickly).
